I hope your October went well! The weather has been a little funky, but.. we do live in the midwest!
Beginning band at Meadowbrook Intermediate has been going SO WELL! The students are learning so quickly and a lot of that has to do with their consistent attendance in sectionals during school as well as their individual practice at home. Please encourage your child to practice their instrument daily even if it's only for 10-15 minutes. Learning an instrument is quite similar to the tortoise and the hare race and we are definitely more akin to the tortoise: a little work every day goes a long way!
Their first performance is at the Christmas Program on Monday, Dec. 18 at Civic Memorial High School. Call time will be 6:15pm in the high school auditorium and I request that all students either wear Christmas colors or nice clothing. All 5th grade band students will perform with the band and then will sing with Mrs. Woelfel in the 5th grade part of the program. This performance is a grade for beginning band students!
The Spring Program is currently scheduled for Tuesday, May 8 at Civic Memorial High School. Call time will be 6:45pm in the high school auditorium and I request that clothing simply be nice, dress clothes. This program is with the 6-8th grade band students! It is really a great experience for the 5th graders to see what they'll be stepping up into in 6th grade! This performance is a grade for band students!
The schedule for November and December is posted on my website found here. Please encourage your child to also look outside my door on their day (sometimes the times alter) Also, I will try to remind them that there are days coming up that they normally don't bring their instruments on, but they will need to on those different days! We have some group sectionals and some full band times coming up!
Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns!
Musically yours --
