Hello, hello, hello!
Last week of September is upon us and here's what we have going on: Monday, September 26 - Guard Rehearsal 3pm-7pm Parade Rehearsal 4pm-5pm Field Rehearsal 5pm-7pm Tuesday, September 27 - Parent Meeting in CMHS Commons 6:30pm; Sign up here! Wednesday, September 28 - Guard Rehearsal 3pm-4:30pm Tri-M Meeting 3:30pm-4pm Percussion Rehearsal 5:30-7 Saturday, October 1 - EIU Field Competition. Itinerary is here. If you're interested in helping out, go here! The plan for Saturday morning is to load all equipment onto the trailer; keep uniform and hats on the bus with you. I think that will make unloading the trailer a quicker process! After our performance, we will then reload the trailer with EVERYTHING! Saturday is going to be a very special day! The band will be performing in EIU's football stadium which is HUGE! After our performance, we will stay and watch other high school marching bands perform. A big part of being in a performance activity is supporting other groups that perform as well! You also LEARN so much from watching other groups perform. If you have any questions, please let me know! Looking at next week: Monday, Oct. 3 - Guard Rehearsal 3pm-7pm Parade Rehearsal 4pm-5pm Field Rehearsal 5:30pm-7pm Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Guard Rehearsal 3pm-4:30pm Tri-M Meeting 3:30-4:30 Percussion Rehearsal 5:30-7 Friday, Oct. 7 - Homecoming Parade - Call time will be 2pm in uniform; pizza and salad will be provided after the parade for $5 per person if you'd like to stay at the school. Give money to me. Homecoming Football Game - call time will be 5:30pm in uniform. If you'd like to volunteer to help out, go here! We've had two VERY SUCCESSFUL fundraisers in the past few weeks! Thank you all for your support of the program! Coming up in October will be another fundraiser - keep your eyes open! Musically yours -- Michaela Davis

Hello, hello, hello!
First off, thank you for a wonderful weekend! Your patience on our first weekend competition as well as your flexibility and cooperation made it a fantastic first weekend out! Big shout out and thank you to all of the parent volunteers from this weekend and a special thank you to Harlan Bloodworth and Winners Circle Automotive for fixing the tires on the trailer last minute Friday night. We would not have been able to go anywhere without that in working order! The Marching Eagles received 2nd place at the Murphysboro AppleFest Parade in their class. They received the highest music score in their class as well! When compared to every band in the parade, they received 4th overall, with 3rd in music. Quite an accomplishment! The community, school, and I cannot thank you enough for playing at the football game Saturday night, either! We know it was a long day for all of you, but you pushed through and showed your professionalism and dedication. There are a few things happening this week (not as much as last week, though!): Monday, 9/19: Parade Rehearsal from 4pm-5pm, Field Rehearsal from 5pm-7pm. If you ordered anything from the GetLogod fundraiser, those items will be dropped off after rehearsal. Tuesday, 9/20: Roma's Pizza Fundraiser! Simply go to Roma's and tell them that you are there for the band and a portion of the proceeds will go to the band program. Easiest fundraiser EVER! It lasts all day from 11am-10pm. I'll be there around 7pm. :) Wednesday, 9/21: ILMEA Audition Clinic at SIUE - select students are attending. We will leave the school at 3:20pm and come back around 7pm. Percussion Rehearsal will still happen as well from 5:30pm-7pm. That's it for this week! Updates for next week will be sent out next week, but here's a few things to keep in mind. 1. Parent Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27th in CMHS Commons. Sign up to attend here. 2. EIU Field Show on Saturday, Oct. 1. Sign up to chaperone/help set up the field here. 3. Homecoming Parade/Homecoming Game on Friday, Oct. 7th. Sign up here. 4. Senior Night Football Game on Friday, Oct. 14th. Sign up here. Our band needs a lot of wheels to keep it rolling smoothly. Parent volunteers are one of those wheels! Please help where you can. If you take any pictures or videos of anything the band does, could you please send them to me? I'll post them on the website! Musically yours -- Michaela Davis Hello, hello, hello!
Happy Monday! Here's what we have going on this week: Monday: Rehearsal from 4pm-7pm Bethalto Fine Arts Booster Kick-Off Meeting: starts at 6:30pm Wednesday: Guard Rehearsal from 3pm-4:30pm Percussion Rehearsal from 5:30pm-7pm Friday: Football Game; call time is 5pm (ALL students should attend warm-up; even cheerleaders!) We will load the trailer with instruments after half time; after your instrument is loaded, you may leave! We will talk about how we are going to do this Friday night, but we load in reverse score order - percussion, low brass, high brass, low reeds, high reeds. If you'd like to sign up to help at the football game, please message me. We need water help as well as drum major podium carrying help! Saturday: Murphysboro Parade; call time is 7am. Itinerary is here. If you'd like to sign up to help at Murphysboro, go here. Short, quick and easy update! Musically yours -- Michaela Davis Hello, hello, hello!
First off, thank you for the past two weeks! They were busy and hectic and had all sorts of activities going on, but the band pushed through. Thank you to all parent volunteers that helped water the band this past weekend at the parade. As far as parade weather in concerned, it was BEAUTIFUL, but hydration is always important! There isn't much happening this week: Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Tri-M meetings begin on Wednesdays starting at 3:30pm! In the auditorium at CM - Percussion rehearsal from 5:30pm-7pm Thursday, Sept. 8 - This is an extra credit opportunity for any one interested (it is highly encouraged for those in Tri-M or wanting to join Tri-M). It is Meadowbrook Intermediate's beginning band instrument night. There will be tables set up in the Meadowbrook gym for 5th graders to walk around and visit and hopefully, ultimately, decide to buy to start learning in beginning band. Next week: Monday, Sept. 12 - Guard rehearsal from 3pm-7pm - Parade rehearsal from 4pm-5pm - Field show rehearsal from 5pm-7pm Wednesday, Sept. 14 - Guard rehearsal from 3pm-4:30pm - Percussion Rehearsal from 5:30pm-7pm Friday, Sept. 16 - Football vs. Jerseyville (5pm call time) - We need some parents to help re-fit some uniforms! If you're available, please let me know! - We also need some parents to help set up water for the kids after pre-game as well as set up the drum major podiums before half time. Please let me know if you're interested in helping - it would be much appreciated! Saturday, Sept. 17 - Murphysboro AppleFest Parade (Itinerary) - We will need some parent chaperones! Let me know if you're interested! Upcoming Fundraisers: Tuesday, September 20 - we are having a Roma's Pizza fundraiser! If you tell your server that you're there for the band, part of the proceeds from that day will go to the band! Roma's is open from 11am-10pm, so spread the word! This is from Shelly: Due to the schedule and what usually ends up as chaos, Miss Davis would like to have dinner at CM when the students finish the parade. She is thinking something easy such as pizza with some fruits and veggies. This will give them some time to rest, eat, and get ready for the football game without worrying about needing to leave to eat or bringing something in. The Plan: Each student bring in $5 between now and October 5th. The pizzas will be ordered, picked up, and ready when they get back from the parade. If anyone is willing/able to donate a few veggie and fruit trays, that would be great. If not, I can run get some that afternoon. Desserts are always welcome, if anyone wants to donate those, too. Parade Volunteers: The HC parade is a lengthy one compared to some of the others, so volunteers will be needed to walk in the parade and water the band. In the past, there have been between 7-9 walkers, including those that pull the extra coolers. Please let me and/or Miss Davis know if you are able to volunteer. You will need to be at CM (but don't park in the lot!) by 2:30. Step off is planned at 3! Sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0448aaac2ba6f85-homecoming One last thing, plans for Pickneyville will be coming soon! It takes a lot of planning and coordination for the potluck for this event, so we will start early! Please let me know if you have questions! Musically yours -- Michaela Davis |
