Hi, hey, hello!
As October wraps up, I would like to thank everyone again for making the beginning of the school year flow so smoothly! This has been a great start to what I believe will be a wonderful year and I cannot wait to see how this band keeps improving! Batavia Visit I hope the students had a chance to meet some new friends from Batavia! The visit went wonderfully and I feel very thankful for our administration for allowing us to host Batavia HS. They performed in the Edwards Jones Dome at 7:30am this morning - it was a wonderful performance! Halloween Parade Our Halloween parade is this Monday, Oct. 29th! Costumes are required - ensure that they don't interfere with the playing of your instrument/spinning of your flag. Call time is at CM at 5:30pm where buses will drive us over to the Bank of Edwardsville. Step off is at 6:30pm. We will parade down Prairie St, buses will pick us up and drive us back to CM where we will have some awards to give out! Everything should end around 8pm or so! Jazz Band Begins this week! Rehearsals are from 3pm-4:30pm on Friday afternoons. Jazz band is an optional performance opportunity for high school students, focusing on the jazz style of playing. If you think you're interested, come to the first rehearsal and find out! There is no audition to be in the group: consistent attendance and learning your music are the only requirements. Pep Band Here is the schedule! Pep band is a grade in PowerSchool. Communicate! Chicago Trip & Show Me Dough Hopefully you received two different papers from your child on Friday. The first of which being the band and choir tour proposal to Chicago. This has been tentatively approved by the board, but will not be actually approved until we receive an accurate representation of who can go on this trip. Please return the bottom portion of that paper regardless of whether or not you're interested in attending or not. Along with the trip proposal was the Show Me Dough fundraiser. This fundraiser is purely for students' accounts for the trip. They will receive 40% of this fundraiser. The form and monies are due Monday, Nov. 5 with delivery being Wednesday, Nov. 14. We do this fundraiser every year and our community is used to it - reach out to EVERYONE and I guarantee someone will buy something! Congratulations to the Marching Eagles on receiving Best Music and 2nd place in their class at the Potosi Bi-State Invitational! The work that the students have put into the show has been rewarded both by the achievements they have earned and by themselves - how they feel when they walk off the field. I'm insanely proud of this group of students. Shout outs to anyone who has helped throughout the season in ANY WAY! We could not have been successful without your help and support. THANK YOU! Special congratulations to Alex Hornsey and Brayden Shirley for auditioning and being selected for the ILMEA All-District Orchestra (Alex) and Jazz Band (Brayden). The jazz band concert is on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Belleville East High School and the orchestra concert is held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Belleville West High School, along with the district band and district choir concert. Also, congratulations to those who were selected in the choir: Jaden Devino and Maegan Greiner, who are also on our color guard, Noah Dunlap, Tanna Hoffman, and Andrea Grey.
