Hello, hello, hello!
I cannot believe band camp is next week already. The staff and I are truly excited to get this show on the field and we cannot wait to see what the kids make of it. The basic schedule of camp is as follows: 8am-12pm - Marching basics and learning drill (Outside) 12pm-1pm - Lunch (Students are allowed off campus - this is a privilege. If students take advantage of this privilege - arriving late to sectionals or acting immaturely - I hold the right to take this away.) 1pm-3pm - Music sectionals and ensemble (Inside) 3pm-5pm - Music with drill (Outside) The student leaders have put together a helpful list of Do's and Don't's for band camp that all students and parents should take a look at. It will be a huge help for band camp! It is attached to this email. During the week of band camp, there are a few items that are due: 1. Medical Release Form (really needed the first day of camp - this allows me to take care of your child if something was to happen to them. We don't have a nurse on campus during band camp.) 2. Band Camp Order Form (with $$$) 3. Handbook Agreement (This will be a grade once the school year starts.) Please make sure your child turns these in by Wednesday, Aug. 2. If you need a copy of any of these, they can be found at the band website: cmhsbands.weebly.com. We will also be fitting uniforms the week of band camp. We will fit certain classes on certain days. On the day that your class is scheduled to be fit, bring your lunch. Fittings will happen during lunch time and you may not have time to go out and get food. Monday - Seniors Tuesday - Juniors Wednesday - Sophomores Thursday - Freshmen Friday - Anyone we missed the previous days On Friday on the last day of camp, we will be holding a potluck dinner. All families are invited to this potluck and more information (how to sign up to bring food or other items) will be coming out within the next week. We will be holding a parent performance of the 2017 field show on Thursday, August 10 at 6:30pm. All families and teachers are welcome to attend to see the Marching Eagles premiere there 2017 field show, This Love... The week following band camp is Meadowbrook Intermediate's Beginning Band Camp from 10am-12pm, Monday through Friday. Student leaders are encouraged to help out, other volunteers would be appreciated! Please let me know if you're interested in helping out this week. I cannot emphasize how important this camp is to the Marching Eagles. Attendance and participation is imperative. If there are any conflicts, please send me an email as soon as possible. Here is the schedule for the next few weeks: This Week Monday, July 24 - Percussion Rehearsal (3pm-5pm) Tuesday, July 25 - Student Leader Meeting (8am-12pm) Wednesday, July 26 - Percussion Rehearsal (3pm-5pm) - Color Guard Rehearsal (6pm-8:30pm) Thursday, July 27 - Student Leader Meeting (8am-12pm - this was mistyped on the last email I sent. Next Week Monday-Friday, July 31-Aug. 4 - Band Camp (8am-5pm) Following Week Monday, Aug. 7 - Beginning Band Camp (10am-12pm) - Color Guard Rehearsal (6pm-8:30pm) Tuesday, Aug. 8 - Beginning Band Camp (10am-12pm) - Marching Eagles Rehearsal (4pm-8pm) Wednesday, Aug. 9 - Beginning Band Camp (10am-12pm) - Color Guard Rehearsal (6pm-8:30pm) Thursday, Aug. 10 - Beginning Band Camp (10am-12pm) - Marching Eagles Rehearsal (4pm-6pm) - Marching Eagles Parent Preview (6:30pm) Friday, Aug. 11 - Beginning Band Camp (10am-12pm) Mrs. Shelly Moore sent out an email a day or so ago to parents. A copy of this email can be found below in bold font. If you have any questions about this email or would like to respond, please email Mrs. Moore at [email protected]. Unbelievably summer is winding down, which means band camp is right around the corner! Remember, band camp runs Monday July 31st through Friday August 4th at CMHS. It is imperative that band students attend and participate. It is also extremely important to have parental support throughout the week for various needs. BOTTLED WATER is needed BEFORE camp begins. Each member of guard and band is asked to donate at least 2 cases of water. They may be dropped off at the main office at CM during regular business hours, or brought in the first day of camp. Camel Packs: (Backpacks with water pouches) Students are encouraged to wear/bring camel packs if they have them. This will help students stay cool and hydrated during the outdoor practices. 5 Gallon Round Drink Cooler: If anyone has a drink dispensing cooler such as the one in the picture that could be borrowed during camp, please let me know. Pop-Up Tents: Three pop-up tents are needed during the week. Please let me know if you have one that can be used for the week. SNACKS: Donations of non-perishable snacks, such as fruit snacks, granola bars, etc. are needed. Please donate if possible. They can be dropped off with the bottled water. UNIFORMS: Each day, groups of students will need fitted for uniforms so each day, volunteers are needed to help with this. Please let me know if you are able to help and what days. SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN!! POTLUCK! We'd like to do a potluck dinner on Friday the 4th for the kids. I will contact Mr. Shirley to set up the sign up. Please be thinking of what you'd like to donate. Miss Davis will be sending out more information soon. Let's start the marching season off strong and have a great year! Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns! Musically yours -- Michaela Davis
