Hello, hello, hello!
Next week is our first annual Beginning Band Camp! It is from 10am-12pm Monday through Friday at Civic Memorial High School in the auditorium. To get to the auditorium, simply drive around to the football stadium and walk in the doors of the school that face the stadium. To the right after you walk in are four wooden doors that lead to the auditorium!
Shirts will be delivered after the school year starts. For those that cannot attend camp, an order form to order a shirt will be sent out at a later date.
If you haven't signed up for camp and would still like to, it is NOT too late! Please let me know via this email. There are a few other items that I'll need to know as well:
1. Your child's name
2. Your child's instrument
3. Whether or not you're renting said instrument from Halpin Music Co. (They will be delivering all rented instruments on Monday morning before camp.)
4. Send $25 check or cash Monday morning (make checks payable to Michaela Davis)
Band sectionals will start the second full week of school (Aug. 28-Sept. 2.) I'm hoping starting this late will allow for the kids to settle in to their daily schedules in their classrooms. You can see the schedule for the first month of school at this link: Weekly Schedule. The schedule rotates so that the students aren't missing the same class more than once a month.
To know which section your child is in, click on the Sectional Groups link. This will updated with the list as soon as I am able to access the Class Lists for the 2017-2018 school year.
I'm so excited to start this year and I hope your child is, too! Learning an instrument is something that you keep with you your entire life. I perform with the Alton Municipal Band on Thursday and Friday evenings in the clarinet section, and there is a gentlemen playing alongside me that has been playing in the band for 75 years! He started when he was just 15 and he is now 89! That is simply amazing.
