Hi, hey, hello!
While the end of this school year has been nothing but challenges and obstacles, I do hope you all are gearing up to enjoy your summer! Take the opportunity this summer to wind down, relax - always be cognizant and aware of what's happening, but unplug from social media and just breathe for awhile. Every single one of you deserves it. This is the final update for this school year. Throughout the summer, I'll typically only send month updates, unless something important is coming up. Since this summer is already a little atypical, please count on emails from me bi-weekly. If you haven't already signed up for the Remind, please do so by clicking here and following the directions. Awards Pick-Up - Current CM Band Students ONLY Awards pick up is TODAY from 3pm-6pm in the circle drive. For those students who have school owned instruments, plan on bringing them to the school today. If you are wanting to keep the instrument at home to practice, simply communicate that with me. Jackets will be for sale today at $25. Let me know what size you would like so that I can be prepared and pay with cash or check to CMHS Bands. GoogleMeetings - SPECIFIC STUDENTS This week's meetings are held for specific students. Please plan on being at these meetings this week! Thursday, May 28 - 2020-2021 Senior Meeting (1pm) Friday, May 29 - Student Leader Meeting (1pm) Important Dates for 2020-2021 - ALL STUDENTS/PARENTS A full calendar will be given out at the meeting once it's rescheduled, but please plan around the following dates. Musically yours -- Michaela Davis Hi, hey, hello!
As I'm sure you have all heard, schools in Illinois are closed for in person learning for the rest of the school year. That effectively postpones or cancels any event that was scheduled to happen in May, including: - Concerts - Banquets - Parades Right now, the district is working through rescheduling certain events. Once they know more, we will know more. I know that throughout this time, I have had a million questions to ask. I have continued to look ahead as to how this might impact other events scheduled for the summer. The simple answer is: we don't have an answer right now. If you have questions, please continue sending them my way. I'll add them to my working question document and once I am in a place to ask those questions or answer them myself, I will do so. School Owned Instruments - Current CM Students ONLY If you have a school owned instrument or anything else that belongs to the band, please plan on bringing it back to the school on the designated dates below (these should align with CM's dates): May 15 - Seniors May 27 - Juniors May 28 - Sophomores May 29 - Freshmen If you are having to switch out instruments (euphonium to baritone, trombone to baritone, etc.), we will plan on doing this at FUNdamentals Camp. 4th Quarter Playing Test - Current CM Students ONLY All information can be found on GoogleClassroom. This test is due THIS Friday, May 8 at 11:59pm. Please turn your videos into GoogleClassroom. If you don't know how to do this, reference the How-To video posted on Classroom. 2nd Semester Fine Arts Critique - Current CM Students ONLY Due to the situation at hand with Covid-19, this will NOT be a required grade this semester. However, it will still be offered as extra credit! It is due Friday, May 8. Lesson Plans - Current CM Students ONLY THIS LINK takes you to my weekly lesson plans. All assignments and directions will still be found on GoogleClassroom. Let me know if you have any issues using GoogleClassroom. I'm available daily from 9am-2pm to answer emails, Reminds, etc. This week's block schedule is as follows: Monday, April 20 - Block 1 Day Tuesday, April 21 - Block 2 Day Wednesday, April 22 - Block 1 Day Thursday, April 23 - Block 2 Day Friday, April 24 - Buffer Day - catch up on missing assignments & redo any work you feel needs to be redone (all grades will be updated this day from me). GoogleMeetings - Current CM Students ONLY This week's GoogleMeetings will be slightly different; I will be holding virtual office hours on Tuesday from 12pm-2pm. You may visit these office hours at any time within that time frame for any reason. I'll email out the link to student emails at 12pm on those days. If this time doesn't work for you and you need to meet, just send me an email and we will figure something out!
