We are a little over a week away from our 2019-2020 band camp! Band camp is 8am to 6pm on July 29 through August 2 at Civic Memorial High School. We learn most of our field show at this camp, so your individual attendance is critical to our success as a band. If you cannot make it to this camp, please communicate with me. You will feel very behind if you miss even just a half of a day of this camp! A snapshot of our daily schedule of camp is as follows: 8am-10am - Stretching, Conditioning, Movement Block, Marching Block 10am-12:30pm - Drill 12:30pm-1:30pm - Lunch (Uniform Fittings) 1:30pm-3:30pm - Music 3:30pm-6:00pm - Drill with Music Lunch We have an hour for lunch every day. Lunch is either a bring your own, have someone bring food to you (within that hour time frame), or you may leave campus to go get lunch. Leaving campus to eat lunch is a privilege meaning if it taken advantage of, it will be taken away! Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there. Responsibility is a must! Here's what you should bring to camp EVERY DAY: 1. Instrument/Instrument Accessories 2. Show Music 3. Folder/Binder for music/handouts 4. PENCIL 5. Sunscreen 6. Water/Water Jug (water jugs are preferred - more hydration, and fewer trips to fill up!) 7. Tennis shoes (no Converse, Sperry, or Vans - need to have good arch support to take care of your feet!) 8. Lunch if not planning on going out to get lunch 9. Light weight clothing in light colors (don't wear jeans or all black!) 10. Optional - something flat and small to put on the field to mark drill spots (lids from QuikTrip work well!) 11. Optional - hat or bandana to protect face/neck from the sun 12. Optional - sunglasses Uniform Fittings The band's uniforms are provided and our uniform managers, Mary Pearson and Morgan Twente, and our uniform band parent, Rhiana Stuart, will be fitting students for their marching band uniforms on the following days. End of Band Camp Potluck We host a potluck on the Friday of band camp every year. The theme this year is Taco/Nacho Bar. Please sign up to bring something by clicking HERE. Band Camp is what I consider the true beginning of the school year. It's hard to believe that camp is less than 2 weeks away. Camp runs from 8 AM to 6 PM on July 29th through August 2nd, with the End of Camp Dinner happening on the evening of the 2nd.
One of the things we as parents like to do for the band members during camp is provide snacks. This offers students the chance to grab a quick snack during breaks without worrying about bringing things themselves each day. Items that are left over from camp will be used throughout marching season. If you are able to donate any of the following, please do so! Jen Gross is our Band Camp Mom so she is the one to contact with any questions ([email protected]). Also, bottled water is still needed. If you haven't sent in a donation of a case or two, please do so during the week of camp. Donations: Goldfish or Whales Granola bars Fruit snacks Popsicles Protein bars Fruit; bananas, apples, seedless grapes (apples and grapes must be washed prior to drop off) Cookies Fruit rollups Jerky sticks Clif bars Chips Animal crackers Your student's favorite snack Cash donation Hand sanitizer Lysol wipes For anyone wanting to drop off bottled water, snacks, or potluck items (on Friday the 2nd), Jen will be at the back door from 7:30-8:00 a.m. There will also be a large tote located on the sidewalk of the backside of the building.
