Hi, hey, hello!
Please keep Boston Perry's family and friends in your thoughts over the next few weeks. Boston was a CM Alumni, a former student leader for our Marching Eagles Percussion and past president of Tri-M. He was a wonderful human being and will be missed dearly in our hearts. Thank you to the percussionists that honored him at his memorial service by performing not only a few cadences, but one that he wrote for us. Remind and Verizon have worked out their issues! For those who didn't know, Verizon was going to begin charging Remind for every text message delivered. This was going to cost Remind a pretty penny, and they were going to cut off text messages to Verizon carriers via their system, requiring Verizon users to download the app. After a HUGE educator outcry, Verizon changed their minds. :) Pep Band Game w/ 8th Graders This Friday, 8th grade band members are going to be joining us for our pep band game! We have been working on a few songs in class, but the rest is sight reading for them. Be friendly, helpful, and encouraging! Let's show them how much FUN high school band is! Music Goals This week, we are going to finish up Red, remind ourselves of Yellow, sight read Apples for the spring concert and red through Czardas for the spring concert as well. In sectionals, we should be wrapping up learning our ensemble pieces and start working on musicality and phrasing. Hi, hey, hello!
Congratulations to Isabella Garrett, Sydney Stuart, Madison Emshousen, Brayden Shirley, Jenna Bloodworth, Emily Fitzgerald, Elizabeth VonBergen, and Alex Hornsey for attending the SIUE Bi-State Honor Band Festival this past weekend! After auditioning for placements Friday afternoon, they then rehearsed Friday evening and all day Saturday and had their concerts last night. All performances were wonderful and it goes to show you how much you can accomplish in one day of rehearsals! Special shout out to Alex for making it into the Honor Band - wonderful job! Chicago Trip The January payment was due on the 15th. HERE is the most current ledger of student and chaperone accounts for this trip. On the far right, under Total Owed, if it is blue, then you will receive this in CASH FORM the first day of the trip as spending money. If this applies to you or if you have the total owed of $0, you do NOT owe any more money to this trip. Room sign ups are outside my office - they will be taken down on February 1. Do NOT sign up for a room if you do not have a group of four total, and be responsible when selecting your rooms (i.e. don't choose someone you might get in trouble with...) Mrs. Woelfel and I hold the right to switch rooms if we see any potential issues. Pep Band - January 25th Originally, we did NOT have a pep band game this Friday because I believed I was going to be out of town. However, I will NOT be out of town. This will NOT be a required pep band game, but I'm hoping there are enough of us available and willing to volunteer to have a pep band game this evening - even if it's only playing the school song and Star Spangled Banner, as well as All-Star. Could you all let me know ASAP? I'll send out a remind asking within the next day or so. After playing, we will have a move night in the auditorium... choices include Shrek, and.. something else. :) Ideas appreciated! Feb. 1 - Pep Band with the 8th Graders Just keeping this date in your heads - I can honestly tell you the 8th graders are SO EXCITED to come to pep band this evening. We will warm up as normal, play as normal, then after halftime, we will put instruments away and enjoy pizza while making connections and reaching out to recruit this wonderful group of 8th graders to band next year! Music Goals for This Week We finished up Yellow, so the goal is to continue refining musicality in it as well as begin working on Red and continuing our progress with our ensemble pieces. We will also play sections of By My Side throughout the week in preparation for the Chicago tour.
