Hi, hey, hello!
We are getting into some more normal weeks which means updates will be more frequent. Please read everything carefully and fill out a form if it asks you to do so. Tuesday, March 9 - Optional Pep Band Please see the email for who is attending this evening. If something changes in your schedule and you cannot make it, please let me know. On the other hand, if you decide you DO want to attend, just send me an email and I will add you to the list! Brayden Shirley will be conducting us this evening. :) Schedule: 6pm - call in the auditorium; warm up and run tunes 7pm - move to the gym Between JV and varsity games: play School Song and other tunes Start of Varsity game: Play Banner and School Song 1st Half of Game: Play during time outs as allowed Halftime: Senior recognition & play After halftime: dismissed Dress: Please wear polos. Seniors - please wear the sashes that Paige made for you! Senior Information - Senior posters may be posted either in the gym where the band will be OR they can be propped on tables in the commons. It'll be easier for everyone to view them if they are propped on a table. - Parents will wait in the commons until halftime where they will be escorted into the gym for senior recognition and listening to the band play for the rest of halftime - After halftime, senior pictures will be taken by Mrs. Gross in the commons and there will be a senior parent meeting with Mrs. Gross as well. Homecoming Parade The band has been asked to perform in the Homecoming Parade at the end of March. Color guard is also invited to perform with us. I know this date may feel last minute, but I'm hoping it's early enough that we can all participate. This may be our only parade of the school year and I do feel like it's important for us to contribute to this annual school event. It also allows our community to see us perform live for the first time in a year! Full Band/Guard Rehearsal: Tuesday, March 23 from 1pm-3pm & Wednesday, March 24 from 1pm-3pm Date: Friday, March 26 Call Time: 2pm in the auditorium Parade Start: 2:50pm Parade Route: Starts on Stadium Drive, goes up Corbin St., and ends at Bethalto East. We will walk back to the school for wrap-up and dismissal. We will be playing the School Song. We will start looking at this during the school day this week. Dress for the parade will either be band polo OR another activity's dress (i.e. football jersey, tennis top, volleyball top, etc.) + black pants with marching shoes. Student Leader Applications Due date for these applications is THIS FRIDAY, 3pm. They can be found on GoogleClassroom. Interviews are scheduled for Friday, March 26, and will start sometime after the parade ends. Originally, these interviews were virtual and some may be virtual, but most will be in-person interviews maintaining social distance and wearing face masks. Percussion Rehearsals Percussion clinics begin this week! CLICK HERE for the full percussion schedule. Students should plan on attending the clinic that they are interested in (I recommend attending both, personally). When students audition, they will prepare one of the selections that Alex has chosen. Important Note: Just because you audition for battery does not mean you will be placed in battery. Just because you auditioned for front ensemble does not mean you will be placed in front ensemble. You will be placed on an instrument and in a section that works for the group as a whole. This isn't personal - it's what's best for the band! Interest for Disney in March of 2022 Band and choir has been approved to ask parents/students who would be interested in going to Florida in March of 2022. At this point, we are just seeing interest. There is no guarantee this trip may occur. All current 8th-11th grade students signed up for band and/or choir for the 2021-2022 school year, please fill out THIS FORM. ~~~ Updated March Schedule Week of March 8 Tuesday, March 9 - Student Leader Meeting (12:30pm - in person unless you cannot attend in person) Thursday, March 11 - 2021 Percussion Clinic - Battery (4pm-5:30pm) - 2021 Percussion Clinic - Front Ensemble (5:30pm-7pm) Friday, March 12 - Student Leader Applications Due (3pm) Week of March 15 Monday, March 15 - Tri-M Board Meeting (12:45pm) Wednesday, March 17 - Tri-M Meeting (12:45pm) Thursday, March 18 - 2021 Percussion Clinic - Battery (4pm-5:30pm) - 2021 Percussion Clinic - Front Ensemble (5:30pm-7pm) Week of March 26 Monday, March 22 - Choir Cabaret Recording Tuesday, March 23 - Marching Eagles Rehearsal (1pm-3pm) - 2021 Drum Major Clinic (3pm-4pm) - 2021 Color Guard Clinic (4pm-6pm, Bethalto East) Wednesday, March 24 - Marching Eagles Rehearsal (1pm-3pm) - 2021 Color Guard Clinic (4pm-6pm, Bethalto East) Thursday, March 25 - 2021 Drum Major Clinic (3pm-4pm) - 2021 Percussion Auditions (4pm-7pm) - 2021 Color Guard Auditions (4pm-6pm, Bethalto East) Friday, March 26 - Homecoming Parade (2pm call, 2:50pm step off) - Student Leader Interviews (Times TBA) March 29 - Monday, April 5 SPRING BREAK! ~~~ Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!
