Hi, hey, hello!
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm during this cold front. I've been cuddling with my space heater every night before bed! A few things on this update: Class on Tuesday (Concert Band) and Wednesday (Wind Ensemble) We are going to start looking at our pep band charts just in case we have the opportunity to perform at any basketball games or football games coming up. To do this, all students are invited to come IN PERSON to 6th hour and 7th hour this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you decide to come in person, check-in through the main office. If you are a concert band student, but you're available during 7th hour on Wednesday, feel free to come to 7th hour! If you are a wind ensemble student, but you're available during 6th hour on Tuesday, feel free to come to 6th hour! MVC For those that were invited to MVC, the itinerary and Zoom links are attached in a PDF. Please let me know if you have any questions! This is THIS THURSDAY, Feb. 18 from 6pm-7:30pm. 2020-2021 Solo & Ensemble The following students have reached out to me about solo and ensemble: Josh McCune (Alto), Jenna Bloodworth (Trumpet), Alex Cole (Guitar/Trumpet), Carter Bloodworth (Timpani), Nathan Mikoff (Snare), and Dakota Nolte (Mallets). Solo & Ensemble is on Saturday, March 6, but is completely virtual. We will take a video of you playing your solo and submit it to the judges sometime before March 6. Scales are NOT required this year for solo players and the use of an accompanist is optional this year as well. More information will be given during class. Third Quarter Playing Test Information for the third quarter playing test will be posted to GoogleClassroom this week. This test is due Friday, March 5 at 11:59pm. Winter Showcase Our winter showcase will be recorded this year with performances by our two percussion ensembles, jazz band, concert band, and wind ensemble. The schedule for recording is as follows: Thursday, February 25 - Percussion Ensembles recording during normal rehearsal times Monday, March 1 - Jazz Band Recording (1pm-2pm - plan ahead for this as far as concert dress is concerned) Concert Band Rehearsal and Recording (4pm-6pm) Wind Ensemble Rehearsal and Recording (6pm-8pm) UPDATE: We will be releasing our winter showcase performances alongside the choir's Cabaret performances at the end of March. So, this performance will NOT be available until the week before spring break. 2021-2022 Student Leader Applications For those interested in applying to be a student leader for 2021-2022, the application has been postd to GoogleClassroom. Drum Major Clinics are on Tuesday and Thursday, March 23 and 25 from 3pm-4pm; interviews for all student leader positions are on Friday, March 26 beginning at 3pm. Basketball Games & Football Games Mr. Hannaford and I are in discussions about what the band's involvement may be. Here's what we know: 1. Basketball games are limited to 50 spectators. This makes it hard for our band to be involved at this point in time. 2. Football games are still up in the air. If we are able to perform, it will be a pep band situation.
