Hi, hey, hello!
With the official ending of marching band season being the Halloween Parade and now that it is the month of thanks, there are a few people I want to take a moment to appreciate. Band Parents For all that you do in supporting the Marching Eagles and myself - we could not do this without you! From providing water, food, transportation, hauling equipment from point A to point B... The list goes on and on and so does our appreciation of you. Administration We would not be able to attend any of the competitions we attend without the support of our administration in Bethalto. Please thank them for appreciating and supporting the fine arts when you see them! Staff This has been the year of returns in staff and consistency makes a difference! The combined forces of Sam, Charles, Brayden, Alex and Paige made this season go by so smoothly and they truly do love each and every one of you. (Little known fact - Sam drove down from ISU for every competition this year. That is a 2.5 hour drive down and a 2.5 hour drive back up... he must care about you all a lot!) I know a lot of people who try to do everything themselves and I do not apply that philosophy in our band life. Thank you, staff, for everything this season. I think it's really easy to get distracted by the day to day movement of our lives and forget to say thank you. I know I do all the time. I really challenge each and everyone of you to thank someone every day this month. Not only will it make you feel great, but you might be the only positive part of that person's day! Now, to the business side of things... ILMEA Congratulations to all students who made ILMEA this year! From band, Quentin Roose (Trimpe) and from choir, Chloe Dale, Sarah Evans, Tazai Kruckeberg, Shelby Quick (Trimpe) and Noah Dunlap, Maegan Greiner, and Sam Poulsen (CM). It is such an achievement to be selected for this festival and to the high school choir: I have heard an endless stream of "wow" since your performance last night! Butter Braids Order forms and payment are due TOMORROW! Delivery will be Wednesday, Nov. 13 from after school until 5pm. Mattress Fundraiser This event, and our last fundraiser for this semester, will be NEXT SUNDAY, Nov. 10. Please continue spreading word of this event! Last year, we made $5000 total and some schools around us have done really well with this fundraiser, too. Students, sign ups to volunteer at this event are on the white board in the auditorium. Come wear a mattress! Percussion - Technique Thursdays Alex is offering free technique workshops on the following Thursdays from 5pm-6:30pm: Nov. 7, Nov. 21, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. If you're interested, please sign up for the Remind: text @cmtnt19 to 81010. This is for percussionists only, but will be a great experience! I highly recommend attending! McKendree Honor Band Festival The following students are attending this festival: Isabella Garrett (flute), Sydney Stuart (flute), Madison Emshousen (clarinet), Grace Gross (clarinet), Jenna Bloodworth (trumpet), Mark Eldridge (trumpet), Matt Moore (trombone), Emily Fitgerald (euphonium), and Stella Smith (percussion). More details will come out soon for this festival, but you should have been emailed music. Please let me know if you didn't receive this music - the email would have come from a McKendree address, not mine.
