Hi, hey, hello!
Huge thank you to Mrs. White for organizing the caramel apple fundraiser! It was a HUGE hit - we made $2,400 from it that will be the start of our new uniform fund! McKendree Competition Click HERE for the itinerary for the McKendree Competition on Saturday, Sept. 29. It's very similar to the O'Fallon itinerary, but we get home a little bit earlier! McKendree is a really unique competition in the fact that after the students perform, a judge will talk to the students about their performance and then we will go into their auditorium to watch a video of the performance they just had! Instant feedback! HS Sight Reading Festival The Madison County Band Director's Association will be holding a high school sight reading festival on Friday, Oct. 5. This is an optional, free event! It is held at East Alton-Wood River High School. The festival starts at 8am and ends at 1pm. This is a day of no school for the students. If you are interested in this festival, please let me know ASAP. I do have to register you. First Quarter Playing Test The first quarter playing test has been posted to GoogleClassroom. This playing test is due Friday, Oct. 12 at 11:59pm. I'm aware that this is Senior Night and that the next day we have a competition. You have THREE WEEKS before this test is due - get it done! If you would like to meet with me to go over the scales that are due, let me know. Halloween Parade Reminder that the Halloween Parade was moved to Monday, Oct. 29. For this parade, students are required to dress in a costume! More info. TBA. Batavia HS Visit Last year, we hosted Batavia High School's Marching Band for an evening in late October. This was an awesome experience for the students to make connections with another high school band. This year, we are also hosting them! On Friday, October 26, Batavia High School's marching band will be coming to Civic Memorial. We will perform for them, they will perform for us, we will get to watch their rehearsal, and the students will be able to eat with them and make connections and new friends! More info. TBA, I just wanted to keep this date in your minds! Goals for This Week I'm going to try to include this section in the update for the rest of the year, just to keep everyone aware of what we are trying to accomplish in band this week! 1.
